Why this exists.
The purpose
Ahmadu Bello University has graduated more than half a million people since 1962. Until now there has been no single place where that community could be found, verified, convened or honoured. The Network is that place: the official, permanent home of the ABU alumni body — built to reconnect classmates, open doors between generations, celebrate achievement, and give the University a living bond with its graduates.
Who is behind it
The Network is operated in partnership between Ahmadu Bello University and the ABU Alumni Association, under a joint governance board on which both — and independent alumni of standing — sit. The University contributes its records, name and archives; the Association its branches, chapters and sixty years of organising; the operating team runs the platform day to day.

Verified means verified
Membership is confirmed against University records. No exceptions, no shortcuts, no purchased badges.

The community is not for sale
No advertising in member spaces, no sale of personal data, no dark patterns. Future revenue — employer services, event tickets — is built beside the community, never out of it.

Giving is honoured, never extracted
Asks are rare, opt-outs are total, and every fund accounts for itself in public.

The Association is strengthened, not bypassed
Branches, chapters and sets keep their leaders; the platform gives those leaders better tools.

Everything of consequence is published
Governance, policies, moderation statistics, audited giving reports — in the Trust Centre, in plain language.
A short history
- 2026 The Network is commissioned; records digitisation and the founding build begin.
- Next Public launch: the verification service, the Hall of Fame, the first claim waves. Then the member community opens: sets, chapters, mentorship.
